Brand new REQY at Trackfast, Chullora in Oct 1994. All

Upon creation National Rail commissioned many
new low deck, low tare, high speed container wagons for its new Intermodal business.
NRC needed wagons capable of carrying 48ft containers especially. The wagon was
designed by Australian National in 1994, and the first set REQY 7003 underwent
trials in mid 1994.
The REQY was fitted with equipment and 415V cabling
to provide power to reefer containers but was equipment was later removed but
the junction boxes still remain. The 5 permanently
coupled platform sets can carry either 5 x 40ft, 48ft containers or 46ft
Reefers, or 10 x 20ft containers.
