RKVY Tilt Bed Wagon

New RKVY 7273A.                                                                                                   Pacific National

 

These wagons were built to supplement the RKYY class of tilt bed wagon. They are nearly identical to the RKYY in every way, except they do not have gussets on the main chassis beam and have conventional body mounted brake system fitted to the non-tilting side of the wagon, in leiu of Triax bogie-mounted brakes on the RKYY.

 

Builder:

-          10 were built in 2000, and are numbered 7264-7273.

-          12 were built in 2005, and are numbered 7274-7285.

 

Length: 20.798m         Width: 2.68m              Tare: 25.5t       Capacity: 65.5t                        Gross: 92t

 

Bogies: 70t CCSB type

 

Coding:

-                      Originally coded RKYY, later recoded RKVY to differentiate between different builders.

 

Colour Scheme:

-                      The 1st batch were delivered in NRC standard livery of blue-grey body with Marigold sidesills and steps.

-                      The 2nd batch were delivered in PN livery of rich blue over all with sunflower yellow sidesills.

Period of Service: 2000 – Current.

 

Operation: Used on Steelink services over the standard gauge network.

 

Modelling:

-                      Has to be scratchbuilt.
