NQKY 3 TEU Container Wagon
NQKY 34601 at Chullora SFT
As the need open wagons reduced in the late
1990s, FreightCorp converted 55 NOCYs (CDY) to container wagons. The bodies
were removed, and the floor was heavily skeletalised to reduce tare weight.
They were unique at the time in that in addition to either 3 x 20ft or 1 x 20ft
+ 1 x 40ft container, they could carry 2 x 30ft CRT containers that had been recently
introduced.
