5 wagons were built by Clyde Wagon Works in 1970-71 using Tulloch fishbelly underframes from condemned MLV vans. The underframes were fitted with a frame, on which are mounted 4 spherical aluminum tanks. They were given Mechanical Branch ‘L’ series numbers when built, but were renumbered 4151-4155 when they entered general traffic.

Coding: Originally coded PCT, recoded NPTF after 1979.

 

Colour Scheme:

-                      Wagon was originally painted PTC blue livery,

-                      Painted in SRA red livery after 1984.

 

Period of Service: 1971 – 2006.

 

Modifications: Converted for use as Loco Sand ‘Bubble’ Wagons after displaced from Cement traffic.

 

Operation:

            Originally used in cement traffic from Portland and Kandos. These wagons were superceeded in this traffic by the PRX hoppers. Modified for use as loco sand wagons afterwards.

 

Modelling:

            Auscision Models produced RTR HO in 2017.
