As older depressed centre flat wagons became either under capacity or beyond economic repair, an upgraded design was needed. CME Casley commissioned design work on a 50t capacity vehicle able to travel at fast goods speed.
Builders: 3 wagons were built by Chullora Workshops in 1954 and were numbered 130, 590 and 750.

Coding:
- Originally coded LLW,
- Recoded NWLF after 1979.
Colour Scheme:
- Painted all over black with white lettering.
Similar Vehicles: LFW
Period of Service: 19xx – mid 1990’s.
Operation: Used as required to transport items which would be Out-of-Gauge on standard flat wagons.
Special Memtion: NWLF 130N was used to film a promotional TV advertisment in the Sydney underground railway for the ‘Phantom of the Opera’ stage production in 1996. The wagon still bears the ‘Phantom Mask’ logo.
Remaining Vehicles: LLW 130N is stored in Clyde Up Yard, LLW 750 is preserved at the RTM.
Modelling:
- Walthers have a similar wagon available in HO scale, but needs to be modified.
