The BRH’s converted for the Snowy Mountains Scheme (SMS) operated a shuttle service between Berrima BCSC Cement Works and Polo Flat (Cooma). They were attached to both special SMS supply trains and general goods trains to return them to Berrima.

After completion of the SMS, they were pooled into the cement wagon fleet until generally superceded by the introduction of the PRX/PRY wagon in 1976. Afterwards, they operated as adhoc wagons for small consignments of cement to customers throughout the state.

A rake of 25, made up from a mix of SMS and ‘wheat’ roofed wagons were used on Berrima BCSC to Maldon BCSC Cement works Clinker shuttle trains until 1993. They worked as an additional rake to the NPEF Clinker wagons.
