These wagons were originally SAR O and OX open wagons. LVRF hired many of these from ASR for a time to operate their container services throughout NSW. LVRF removed the doors to make the loading and unloading of containers easier. They were not fitted with twistlocks and therefore they had to be loaded with either 2 x 20ft or 1 x 40ft container, unless travelling empty.

Coding:

-                      AOGF coding remained unchanged from ASR.

-                      One wagon, was coded LOAF

 

Colour Scheme:

-                      Most of the class were either SAR grey or AN green.

-                      A few were repainted dark green, with one repainted black LOAF 292T

Period of Service: 1998

 

Operation:

            Generally engaged in LVRFs Carrington/Sandgate to Botany shuttle service, they were also used for trip train working within the Sydney metropolitan area.

 

Modelling:

            -           BGB produced a resin kit but is no longer available.

            -           Orient Express Models produced an RTR HO model of the OB which could be converted.

            -           Phoenix Reproductions produced an RTR HO model in 2019 which only require the doors to be removed.
